I learned about this program when I began the process of purchasing a home through Meritage homes in Schertz, Texas, a northeast San Antonio TX suburb. Rosablanca Taylor let me know about it and Grant Lopez was my realtor. Grant helped us know exactly what to focus on to get our house sale ready. From the time we made the decision to buy our new house and sell our existing house it only took 2 months for all the repairs, painting, sprucing, and staging and the house sold the first weekend for 10K over asking. Grant became both an advisor and a friend. He is an excellent realtor. From what I learned the realtors booked through this program sell a lot so can afford to pay the incentives due to high volume. I was presented with an option of using two different realtors that worked with Meritage Homes back in October when l signed the papers to buy my new home - as opposed to finding my own realtor. I went with Move Up America because they actually reached out to me, they were fast at responding to my questions, and they had the best options for my situation. Specifically, the projected closing date on the new house was before the end of the lease on my apartment and so l would have to break my lease at a cost of 1 month's rent. Move Up America offered a lease buy-out program that would take some of their commission from the home sale and use it to pay the fee for breaking my lease. This offer sounded too good to be true because why would a realtor go out if their way to take some of their earnings to help someone out like that? l decided to go for it after l realized l would not be losing anything if l decided not to go with them and l am glad I did. Clay and his team were very helpful throughout the process and answered all of my questions along the way. In the end, my closing date moved out enough that my lease ended without me having to break it. What surprised me, was that even though they did not have to pay the fee for breaking the lease, Move Up America still gave me that money!! I was more than ecstatic because that money went towards bringing down my closing costs (as a realtor credit) AND the rest was sent to me as a rebate check within 1 week of closing. That extra money is great because it is helping me with all of the new expenses of having a new home.
